The Lance Monthly Welcomes Beverly Paterson as its Newest '60s Columnist |
San Mateo, California resident Beverly Paterson was born in Palo Alto, California the day Ben E. King's "Stand By Me" hit number four on the national charts, which is ironically, one of her favorite songs--especially the version by John Lennon! Beverly began listening to music on a serious basis as a youngster growing up in New Mexico (another coincidence), although at the time, she was not aware of the Lance-related garage bands. It was during those years she began collecting records, but it wasn't until the early eighties she discovered obscure sixties garage and psychedelic rock via compilations like "Pebbles" and "Highs In The Mid-Sixties." A few years later, Beverly began writing for fanzines such as "Blitz" and "Pow." She eventually embarked on a self-publishing route, which produced "Voices Green and Purple," "Inside Out," "Up," In Tune" and "Pop Sunday." Beverly currently publishes a fanzine titled "Twist And Shake," is the associate editor of "Rock Beat International," and submits a regular column, "Classics Revisited" to "Amplifier" magazine. Beverly is very happy to hop onboard the Lance train with her monthly column, "Jump, Jive and Harmonize" and looks forward to raving about all kinds of groovy sounds from yesterday that deserve to live on forever and forever! The Lance Monthly is proud to have Beverly Paterson as its newest family member.
